2009 Honorees

The JMF’s 2009 honourees were five outstanding Medical Practitioners. 2nd from left Professor Kathleen Coard, Professor of Anatomical Pathology at the University of the West Indies (UWI) and Consultant Pathologist to the University Hospital of the West Indies; Dr. Winston E. Dawes, CD, Associate Professor of the University of Technology and former Senior Medical Officer of May Pen Hospital; Dr. Minerva M. Thame, Head of the Department of Child Health, and Consultant Paediatrician, University Hospital of the West Indies, Section Head Department of Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Child Health, University of the West Indies and Chairman of Consultant Meetings on Child Health; Professors Denise Eldemire-Shearer, CD, head of the Department of Community Health and Psychiatry in the Faculty of Medical Sciences UWI, Director of PAHO/WHO Collaborating Centre on Ageing and Health.

At extreme right is Dr. The Hon. Oliver E. Jones, OJ,CD, Chairman of the JMF while at extreme left is Professor E. Nigel Harris, Vice Chancellor of the University of the West Indies who was Guest Speaker for the JMF’s 2009 Fund Raising Banquet held at the Hilton Kingston Hotel on March 21, 2009. Dr. Winston (Freddie) Clarke,CD, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of X-Ray & Diagnostic Ultrasound Consultants Limited and Founding Chairman of the Radiation Oncology Centre of Jamaica Limited was also one of the foundation’s honourees but was unable to attend the function because of unforeseen circumstances.
